10 Months

Where has the past 10 months gone? I can't believe how big my little girl is getting. She is learning new things every day, and it boggles my mind how smart she is. The cutest thing she has picked up in the last couple of weeks is that she now knows who mom and dad are. When she wants me, she'll cry "mom, mom, mom," and it melts me! She also does the hand gesture for "I don't know," and points her finger and shakes it for "no more monkeys jumpin' on the bed!"

I don't know!

No more monkeys jumpin' on the bed!

Tonight we had an "eclair cake" for dessert and she really wanted some, so we stripped her down and let her go at it. I think she liked it!

Daddy's Home!

For the past year and a half, Colby has been working the late shift at work (1 - 9:30), and I hated it. On most days he would be at the carwash in the mornings as well, so we really didn't see him all day long. Not to mention the fact that Caylin doesn't go to bed until 10:30 or 11:00 so she can have some time with dad when he gets home from work. Well, Colby has been moved to a different department, so he will be working from 6am - 2 starting Monday! Yeah! I cannot tell you how excited I am for this, and the fact that we can have a social life again (it's really hard to have a social life when Saturday nights are the only time you can get together with friends!). Caylin can also start to get on more of a "normal" sleeping schedule as well!

One thing I am actually really excited for is to start cooking dinners. I know that sounds lame, but I am excited to learn to really cook. I even asked for an apron for Christmas (no, I didn't have an apron at all, if that says anything about my culinary experience) and got two very cute ones. If anyone has any great dinner recipes, I am certainly open to suggestions!

Photo update

Okay, so my camera must have been having a really bad day yesterday or something, because after a little begging and pleading, I was able to download pictures today. Now, however, the posting is being weird, so sorry for the strange layout.

If you look close, you can see some teeth!

Aww, how cute!

When tempers flare . . .

. . . binkies fly! Caylin has mastered the art of temper-tantrun-throwing the past couple of days. She usually throws her head back and screams, but we can now add binky throwing to the list as well. Let me tell you, she has a good arm on her! Last night she had a really hard time going to sleep (I think mainly due to her cold), and Colby went in with me to get her. I picked her up out of her crib, and she took the binky out of her mouth and threw that thing on the ground so hard, then threw her head back and proceeded to scream. Colby and I looked at each other and just laughed because she did it so deliberately. Well, this afternoon she was not a very happy camper and as I laid her down on her changing table to change her diaper, she chucked the binky in my face! Again, I just laughed because it was hilarious! It would be great if this temper tantrum thing only got better, but I have my doubts.

Happy New Year!

Go figure that when I finally decide to update everyone on our holidays, I cannot get the camera to connect properly to the computer to get the pictures. I have a strange feeling, however, that Caylin has messed with the connection somehow, so for now I will just give you the facts and post the pics later.

We had a great Christmas, and Caylin made it so much fun. I was humored by the fact that we finally had to wake her up Christmas morning so we could get things going and make it to our families' houses. I doubt that will be the case for too many years! She really didn't get into the whole opening presents bit, but was pleasantly surprised (and entertained) by random bits of paper, boxes, and the M&M bags that I got in my stocking. It was fun just to watch her and see her reaction to everything. My favorite thing she got was a walker. She was so cute because she knew just what to do as soon as we set it up for her (it made a great alternative to the empty box she had been pushing around for the week or so prior!). She is now a pro with the thing, and has even managed to learn how to back it up and turn when she runs into something. I have a feeling it won't be too long now before she is off on her own!

Anyway, Caylin was spoiled by Grandma Becky and Grandma Jill, and now has a full stash of all sorts of fun toys that has taken over our entire condo. This Christmas season was even more magical and wonderful that I have ever experienced because I got to do so from her perspective. She was fascinated by the tree and especially the ornaments. I was so sad when the tree finally came down, but I did leave the little one up in her room, and plan on doing so for a while.

We ventured to Saint George with Colby's family for New Year's, as we usually do. It was great to spend time with everyone (all 27 of us), and luckily the family has two condos next door to each other so that we really are all together. The girls did our traditional after Christams bargain shopping, and the boys were even able to get in a round of golf. Caylin enjoyed spending time with her cousins and got to go swimming with daddy also (I was so sad that they went swimming when we went shopping because I was really looking forward to seeing her in the pool!). It was a great time, although Caylin did manage to catch her first cold, and is still trying to get over it.

I can't believe how fast time flies and that it has almost been two weeks since Christmas already!
