Books!

Caylin has really become interested, and quite attached I might add, to her books. I find her in her room all the time just sitting in a pile of books she has pulled off her shelf just turning the pages over and over. The other day I was in my bedroom, and I had left her in her bedroom for a bit, so I decided to check on her. I couldn't find her anywhere, and finally found her sitting in her old carseat reading a book. She was talking away, and it was the cutest thing!
My grandma gave Caylin this little rocking chair that she loves. She climbs in it and says "rock, rock." Well, today she had to take her books with her. She just sat and read until either the book fell off or she threw it off, and then I had to retrieve it for her. Can I just say that I love little $1 board books from Target!

Officially a midget

Caylin's nicknames are midget and munchkin, and for good reason. Today was her one year check up at the doctor, and the numbers just support the fact that she is little. Caylin weighs 17 lbs. 6 oz. (2nd percentile) and is 27.4 inches (4th percentile). I just laughed as the nurse told me the numbers. One good thing, though, she has a big head. Yes, she is in the 84th percentile for her head circumference. Hopefully that is because she has lots of information stored up there or something! Caylin was doing pretty average until her 6 month check-up, when she went from the 40th percentile to the 2nd percentile for weight, and has stayed there ever since. One good thing is that she has gotten a ton of use out of her 6-9 month clothes, because that is what she is still wearing! She is my little munchkin!

Easter

I don't know whether Caylin was a little eager for Easter or what, but her Easter started at 4:30 in the morning. She wasn't sleeping well, and when I went in and fed her at 4:30, she was wide awake. I tried to get her back to sleep, but she saw the basket the Easter Bunny left on her changing table and that was pretty much the end of things. I took lots of pictures and got out the video camera because she was pretty cute going around and finding everything that had been hidden. She first found one of the eggs in her room and when she realized there were Cheerios inside, she got pretty excited. The first picture was taken at 4:30 in the morning with that first egg (notice the Cheerios all over the floor!).

Birthday Party!

Caylin's birthday party was full of food and family. She got so many cute clothes and toys, and the hit of everything was her purple doll stroller. Once we opened it up, it was hard to get her away from it. The cake was a hit as well, as you can see from the pictures. I still can't believe it's already been a year since she was born, but I wouldn't trade the last year for anything! By the way, the purple string you can see in the pictures is a balloon. It was cute because when I went to pick up her birthday cake, the lady at the check stand took it off her register and clipped it to the shopping cart. Caylin wore it around all day long, and it was a good way to keep track of her!

Caylin's one year pictures

Thanks for the hat Ashlee!

A year in review. . .

Where has one year gone? As I think back to the excitement and fear that filled me a year ago, I could never have imagined how drastically my life was going to change. It has been amazing to watch Caylin learn and grow each and every day, and turn into the little girl that she is today with her spunky personality and inquisitive mind. She is so curious and independent and smart, and I know that I am in for a whirlwind of activity and trouble in the years to come. I can't imagine what I would do without her and just want to wish her a happy first birthday!!!

Caylin had a fever when she was born, and so had to have an IV. The diaper is there to keep it in. We called it her boxing glove.

This is the dreaded bilirubin bed that Caylin had to spend the first four days we were home on. I can't tell you how much I hated that thing!

I love you Caylin!

Rascal Flatts!!!

Colby and I were lucky enough to spend this past weekend in Vegas with his parents and his brothers and sisters and their spouses and his boss and some of his kids and spouses. We flew down Friday night and returned early yesterday morning, so it was a short, but exciting trip. Saturday morning and afternoon the boys went golfing while the girls went shopping. We had a fabulous dinner at Nero's Saturday night followed by the highlight of the trip - the Rascal Flatts concert at Mandalay Bay. We were fortunate to have some pretty great seats as well - second row! It was such a great concert and such a fun weekend. The only drawback was that I had to leave Caylin at home. We have left her overnight only once before, but this was two nights. It was hard, but luckily we were so busy, I didn't have time to miss her too much!

Lisa, Brett and Mel had front row tickets. They finally got a handshake after several attempts!

Pretty toes!

So last Friday I had to break out the sandals because the weather was so nice, but once I put them on, I decided that my toenails looked hideous and desperately needed a fresh coat of paint. That night I got ready to paint my toenails, and decided to attempt to paint Caylin's as well. They were always painted last summer, but then again, she would actually hold still for me to do them also! Once I got hers painted, I asked where her pretty toes were, and she kept showing me. It was so cute, and she was pretty excited!

and then she kept doing this, I guess she could see them better herself this way!
