Happy Late Valentine's Day!

Yes, we are still alive. Things are finally starting to feel settled and I feel like I have things together on most days. We absolutely love our new house and our new neighborhood. If only the weather would warm up so that we could really venture out and play in the yard or something - I am so anxious for Spring!

Valentine's Day was fun. Caylin told me several times the week before "Happy Heart Day!" Once she even came up to me and gave me a big hug and kiss, just because. When I asked her why, she said, "Because it's Heart Day and I love you!"

In the middle of getting ready for church that morning, she asked if she could hold Bree. Here are my two little love bugs almost ready to go:

Here's Caylin showing off her loot from the Valentine's Box:

Man, she looks old in this picture! I can't believe she's almost three!

Bree fell asleep before we opened presents, so she got hers the next morning - a baby-proof picture book

I love these two little girls. Caylin is more into reading the books to us than being read to, so the other night she read to Bree

this is my bug. I have decided that I think she is really in my favorite stage right now - she can't really get around too much, can't talk back, is so intrigued by everyone and everything, and is just so stinking cute.

she has started solid foods, and apparently there was another side of Bree bottled up in there somewhere because when it comes to food, she becomes a little monster! She loves it and can't get enough!

The beginning

We bought this house just over four months ago. Since then, Colby has dedicated nearly every night and free day to renovating it. We bought it from the original owners (well, their children anyway), and it didn't seem like it had really been touched in decades. It is basically done, and we plan on finally moving in next week! Here is a little journey through our project:

Just a little update

Things have been busy lately with the house, but the good news - we move in next week! I can't wait and I honestly never thought we would ever get to this point. It has taken so much more time and money than we ever thought, but isn't that how it always goes??? It will be worth it in the end, I just keep telling myself. Colby has done an awesome job and it will be great to be able to be a family again in our own place. Don't worry, pictures will follow when I get them all off my camera.

The holidays came and went so fast, and I was a little sad this year not to have my decorations and tree up, which made me miss out on the spirit of the season. It was hard for me to really feel like it was Christmas because we were so concentrated on the house. It was great, though, and Caylin loved everything about it. My cute Grandpa recorded the animated "Frosty the Snowman" and Caylin still watches it at least once a day (usually more) and is started to recite it as she watches it.

Bree just had her four month check up the other day (where have four months gone?) and weighs in at 12 lbs. 5 oz. and is 24 inches long. She is smiling and laughing and loving her big sister. She has also taken to her lovey that Caylin gave her in the hospital and it is the cutest thing. I found her this morning in her crib talking away and snuggling her lovey. I should have taken a picture, but it was too early to really think about that.

I promise pictures will come soon, but at least I posted an update for those of you who have been bugging me! :)
