No Nap

So today I had warned Caylin that it was time for her nap, and she was determined to keep playing. As I was in the kitchen getting a bottle ready for her, she walked in and said "No nap, no nap!" I told her that she needed a nap so that we could play later, and to that she replied, "tiny one." I guess she's starting to negotiate already!

Random Happenings

So this is quite a random post of pictures from the past couple of weeks.
It was Mimi's birthday last week - Happy late birthday mom! We love you!
Caylin was such a big help when it came to decorating the cupcakes, that is until she realized the sprinkles were candy, then she just sat there and ate them while I finished. She was, however, a big help when it came to blowing out the candle. I don't know how many times we had to relight it, but she loved it.
Caylin's little friend Tessa came over the other night and they had a blast together! They loved pushing each other around in Caylin's little doll stroller.

We went to the zoo the other day with Holly, Tanner, Connor, and Abbey. Connor and Abbey fought over who got to push Caylin around in the stroller, so we had to take turns so everyone was happy.

Caylin loves shoes! She is constantly walking around the house in someone else's shoes!

She loves to color, and I love to see her laying down coloring so intently! Almost everything she draws is a "snake", and she is so proud.

DeeDee made her a Halloween pillowcase, and she now has to sleep with not only the pillow but also a blanket and twenty other stuffed animals. It is so cute because this is the first time she has slept with anything but loveys and binkies.

Which is harder?

Three years ago as I was riding on the bus to the starting line of my first St. George marathon, I happened to be situated in the middle of a large group of women who were running together. The conversation came up, "Which is harder, running a marathon or giving birth?" As I listened to the debate, I wondered what I had really gotten myself into. I heard one women claim that giving birth was easier because you had something tangible in the end. Having experienced neither, I quickly found myself wondering what the next few hours had in store.

Saturday morning as Colby drove me to the drop off point to once again ride the bus to the starting line, I was a little worried about the sprinkles on the window that quickly turned into much more. I am not the bravest person about running in the rain, and hoped with all my heart that it would let up. To my dismay, it rained the entire 4 hours and 40 minutes it took me to run that 26.2 miles. During that time, I found myself several times agreeing with that woman on the first bus that running a marathon is more difficult than giving birth, and that's saying a lot since giving birth was no piece of cake for me either. In the end, I finished, dripping wet, sore, and cold, but I finished. It really was one of the most challenging experiences of my life, but so worth it when I crossed that finish line. They said at the start that this was the 32nd year they had run the race, and only the second time it had rained. Go figure, just my luck!

I know I look so cute in this picture, but please keep in mind that I found some nice guy at the starting line who was handing out grocery sacks to people to help them stay dry. I ran with it on my head for 90% of the race!

This is Caylin's version of running a marathon!

18 Months!

I can't believe Caylin is already 18 months! She has such a cute personality, and talks like crazy. The other day she came into the kitchen with my purse on her arm, then turned around and said "Bye, see ya!!!" I asked her where she was going, and she said "Party!" She is so much fun and really keeps me on my toes.

Today we went in for her 18 month check up, and I was pleasantly surprised to see that she was climbing the charts just fine. She weighs 21 lbs 8 oz. (11%) and is 31.1 inches (34%). Her head, however was in the 92nd percentile!

Caylin went to nursery yesterday for the first time! I was a little worried that she would have a hard time, so I was planning on sitting in there with her for a least a little bit. As soon as I opened the door and she saw the other kids playing with all the new and exciting toys, she was off. She didn't even bother to say goodbye! I'm glad that went better than expected, and it was wierd to sit in class and not have to worry about entertaining anyone!
My big girl!

Random facts

The rules:
1. Link to person who has tagged you:Shawna
2. Post the rules on your blog
3. Write 6 random things about yourself
4. Let each person know they have been tagged by leaving a comment

  1. I have a major sweet tooth, and nothing is more tempting to me than peanut m&m's. I have found that out more and more the last week because I broke down and bought some for Halloween, but I have ended up eating almost all of them by myself already. I try not to keep them in the house for that very reason, and the scale has not been my friend since I bought them!
  2. I love to watch America's Best Dance Crew. I secretly wish I could dance like them, but I have little hope for that one.
  3. I love thunder and lightning. When I was younger we lived with my grandparents for a year or so and for some reason I remember there being thunder and lightning nearly every night that summer. I would sit outside on their front porch for the longest time just watching and listening and smelling the rain.
  4. I love pumpkin; anything pumpkin - pumpkin soup, cookies, bread, I even love the smell of the Jack-O-Lanterns when you put the candles in them and they get slightly burned.
  5. I hate people who either don't use their turn signals or make a wrong turn or miss a turn and then do a really stupid move to try and correct themselves, whether it means cutting someone else off and looking like a real idiot or not. Hopefully that made at least some sense, but in general, I just hate stupid drivers!
  6. I have to shower with rubber gloves on because of the eczema on my hands. The wierd thing now is that it feels strange to shower without them on!

The Fair

This past week we went to the Fair with Colby's family. It wouldn't be the start of fall without a trip to the good old Fair! It is a family tradition of Colby's family that I love, especially now that Caylin is old enough to enjoy it as well! She had so much fun seeing all the animals and rides, and especially loved the display of antique tractors (honestly, I don't know why she is so obsessed with tractors, airplanes, helicoptors, fire trucks, ambulances, and motorcycles, but then again, I was quite a tomboy as a child as well!) Thanks Papa Fred and Grandma Jill for a fun night at the Fair, minus the bout of food poisoning or something that Colby picked up and is still trying to completely recuperate from!

Caylin and Lauren waiting to ride the ponies
she loved the pony ride!
what would a trip to the Fair be without a ride or two on the giant yellow slide? Caylin kept telling me no the whole way up the stairs, but once we went down, she kept yelling "again!" She loved it!

What's new

Not much. We have been pretty boring, and I have just been lazy about posting anything new. Sorry to disappoint! We did, however, go to Fruitland with Colby's family over Labor Day weekend. It was a nice getaway, despite a couple of power outages and downpours!

Playdate at Liberty Park

Thanks Kelsey for planning the playdate to Liberty Park last week! I'm so glad everything cooperated this time!

Hallie and Caylin (they were both SO happy!)
Caylin walked around like this for at least 5 minutes and wouldn't let me take the towel off!
we rode the rides after playing in the water
Thanks again Kels - it was good to finally see you and Hallie again!
